A document used abroad, or a foreign document used in Türkiye, has to pass through a certification chain. The links of that chain depend on the type of document and on the country: which authority certifies it, in which order the steps come, at which point the document is translated and when no translation is needed at all.
The pages of this site take these questions one at a time. Each page shows its legal basis and its source; country information comes, with its date, from the status table of the Hague Conference. Where a translation is needed, the translation office behind this site introduces itself at the end of the page.
