El Salvador’s record rests on a fresh authority page, updated on 8 January 2026. This page is for Salvadoran institutions receiving Turkish documents and for Turks with Salvadoran papers. It covers the 1996 date, the ministry’s service offices, the certificate issued without charge, the QR-coded electronic apostille introduced in December 2022, how that differs from Turkish e-Apostil verification and the place of translation.
El Salvador since 1996: no objection either way
El Salvador deposited its accession on 14 September 1995; the HCCH table shows 31 May 1996. No state objected and El Salvador has objected to no other accession; it is not in the Kosovo note. Since Türkiye has applied the Convention from 29 September 1985, the relationship between the two began on El Salvador’s date, 31 May 1996, and the full status report shows no exception between them. El Salvador is a Member of the Hague Conference and has not acceded to ETS 063, CIEC 16 or CIEC 17.
Salvadoran service offices and a certificate without charge
The authority page of 8 January 2026 gives the certifying power to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and says the work is done in several of its service offices. Their names, number and cities are not in the record and were not checked here. Whichever office issues it, the certificate belongs to the same ministry. The fee line of the same page states that no charge is made; that information belongs to the January 2026 update, and any later change is followed on the HCCH page. In Türkiye, too, no charge is made for a physical apostille at a governor’s office.
December 2022: electronic certificates in El Salvador
The e-APP chart of 13 August 2026 records that the Salvadoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued electronic apostilles since December 2022. A Salvadoran document issued after that may reach Türkiye with an electronic certificate. How certificates issued before December 2022 are checked, and whether paper certificates are still issued, is not stated in the chart and was not verified here. Whether an electronic document is presented to a Turkish office as a file or as a printout is set by that office’s own procedure.
A QR code instead of a register address
El Salvador has notified no register address to the HCCH; the e-APP chart shows that verification is done through the QR code on the certificate. A Turkish institution or notary wishing to test a Salvadoran certificate turns to that code; the address it opens and what it displays were not seen in this site’s survey. Türkiye follows another model: the HCCH e-APP chart records e-Apostille and an e-Register for Türkiye since January 2019, and a Turkish e-Apostil document is verified by uploading it to the Belge Doğrulama page on eapostil.gov.tr. A Salvadoran institution can test a Turkish electronic certificate there.
A Turkish document for El Salvador
When a Salvadoran authority wants an apostille on a Turkish document, the certificate is obtained in Türkiye. Administrative documents such as a diploma or a civil registry extract, and every notarial act such as a notarised translation or a power of attorney, are certified by a valilik or kaymakamlık, a provincial or district governor’s office; for a notarial act, the province or district has been open to choice since 30 November 2024. The original of a court judgment is certified by the adalet komisyonu başkanlığı at a high criminal court seat. An e-Apostil route exists for six document types; how Salvadoran institutions receive a Turkish electronic certificate was not verified here. A certified document for El Salvador does not fall within the work of the Legalisation Unit of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Translation for El Salvador and what could not be verified
In which language, and on whose certification, Salvadoran institutions want a Turkish document translated was not found in this site’s survey; the receiving institution states it. A translation made in Türkiye is certified by a notary, the notary’s certification receives its own certificate, and that certificate attests the notary’s signature, capacity and seal. Whether a translation of an e-Apostil document is made from the file or a printout is not stated in the sources; the receiving institution and the notary who certifies the translation decide. Whether the Turkish translation of a Salvadoran document covers the QR-coded certificate is decided by the receiving Turkish institution. Not verified: where the service offices are, the page the QR code opens, how pre-2022 certificates are checked, and the translation language. A translation office renders the text and does not assess the validity of the certificate.
